Who? What? Where? Why?
Who? What? Where? Why?
This post has been brewing for quite some time now. Lets dive in!
The battle we are fighting at The Wellness Armory:
Every. Single. Day. Veterans are fighting a system that is too complex to navigate.
The Wellness Armory is partnered with organizations like Objective Xray and Veteran Recovery Resources- to cut through red tape, provide competent care, and reduce the staggering statistics that paint a painful picture of veteran well-being.
The Reality: The Numbers We Can't Ignore
According to the Georgia Veteran Suicide Data Sheet (2022), veterans in Georgia die by suicide at a rate of 30.6 per 100,000, nearly two times higher than the states non-veteran population. For younger veterans (ages 18-34), the suicide rate soars to 54.4 per 100,000 - a number that demands immediate action.
Nationally, the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) reports that in 2022 alone 419 active-duty service members died by suicide- more than 40% of total deaths reported. These aren't just statistics- they're fathers, mothers, friends, and heroes lost to a system that too often fails to meet them with timely, competent care.
The Mission: Why The Wellness Armory Was Created
The Wellness Armory was born from a simple but urgent truth: getting help shouldn't be complicated. Veterans face enormous barriers to care- confusing systems, long wait times, inconsistent providers, and stigma. We seek to reduce and/or remove those barriers by offering:
- access to trauma-informed, veteran-competent clinicians
- expedited intake and care coordination
- wrap around care that considers the whole person
- case management to help you navigate your journey
The Collaboration: Building a Better Path
Through partnerships, we're creating a streamlined system where veterans are:
- Matched quickly with licensed providers
- Financially supported when they can not afford mental health care
- Connected to a continuum of services, from clinical support to peer groups and community reintegration.
These collaborations allow us to scale what works- personalized, high-quality mental health care that puts veterans first. Together, we aim not just to reduce suicide numbers, but to improve quality of life and restore a sense of purpose.
The data is heartbreaking, but at The Wellness Armory, we know change is possible. When veterans receive care that is timely, effective, and culturally competent, they heal. They reconnect. They Recover.
